Omar Cabezas was a Nicaraguan author and revolutionary, a prominent member of the Sandinista guerilla movement set on removing dictator Anastasio Somoza Debayle from power. Cabezas’s autobiography Fire From the Mountain traces his unique political journey from student activist to guerrilla to government official.
Lyrical, earthy, and sometimes humorous, Fire From the Mountain provides a local view of the origins of Reagan’s Iran-Contra affair. Deborah Shaffer’s documentary premiered at Sundance and IDFA.
