Ayat, Salam, and Nariman have chosen to participate in The Camera Project, an initiative launched by the Jerusalem-based human rights organization B’Tselem. A unique collaboration between Palestinians and Israelis fighting for justice in the West Bank, the project involves giving video cameras to Palestinian volunteers who are encouraged to record the human rights violations that characterize their daily lives.
Exposing the abuses suffered by women at the hands of Israeli settlers and military personnel, In the Image: Palestinian Women Capture the Occupation reveals the fight to sway popular opinion against the Israeli regime. Emmy Scharlatt and Judith Montell’s documentary premiered at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, Queens World Film Festival and Films de Femmes.
