"[H]as the spirit of the New Wave, something that might interest Eric Rohmer or Agnès Varda"
- The Guardian, Berlin Review
Baden Baden is a fresh, audacious debut feature from French filmmaker Rachel Lang. Salomé Richard plays a young woman who gets fired from her job as a Production Assistant, steals a car, moves back to Strasbourg, renovates her grandmother's bathroom, reunites with a pretentious video-artist ex and in general makes all the wrong decisions in life. Despite being set in a purposefully-mundane everyday reality, Lang manages to insert moments of magic when you least expect it, declaring herself as a promising new voice in contemporary French cinema.
Baden Baden premiered at this year's Berlin Film Festival, and screens through December 1st at Anthology Film Archives.
