Sicilian Ghost Story, Antonio Piazza & Fabio Grassadonia (2017)
Screening works from emerging talents alongside established veterans, the 18th annual Open Roads: New Italian Cinema offers North American audiences a diverse and extensive lineup of contemporary Italian films. Highlights include Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia's second feature Sicilian Ghost Story, a transfixing blend of realism and mythology, that premiered at Cannes' Semaine de la Critique; as well as Damiano and Fabio d'Innocenzo's feature debut Boys Cry, a contemporary crime film based on the outskirts of Rome a contemporary crime film based on the outskirts of Rome that was labeled "a knockout" in The Hollywood Reporter's Berlin review.
Open Roads: New Italian Cinema is co-presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Istituto Luce Cinecittà. Screening through June 6th at Lincoln Center.
