October 30th - November 5th on Le Cinéma Club
What Happened to Her / Kristy Guevara-Flanagan / New York Film Festival, 2016 / 15'
This week Le Cinéma Club features What Happened to Her, a short from American documentary filmmaker and UCLA professor Kristy Guevara-Flanagan. Part of her ongoing interest in female representation and roles in popular media, What Happened to Her is a montage of film and television clips of dead female bodies, narrated by testimony from an actress recalling the experience of playing such a role in 80s cult classic River's Edge.
What Happened to Her was selected to screen at this year's New York Film Festival and was awarded an Honorable Mention at HotDocs in Toronto. Le Cinéma Club screens the online premiere.

Filmatique is proud to announce a new collaboration with Le Cinéma Club.
Le Cinéma Club showcases one film per week— for free— works of new directors, rare films and selected documentaries.
Le Cinéma Club features lists of films curated by renowned filmmakers and cinephiles such as Wes Anderson, Yorgos Lanthimos, Léa Seydoux, and Christophe Honoré.
Le Cinéma Club also programs vis-à-vis a cultural calendar— directors' early works are screened to correspond with the theatrical premiere of a new film; documentaries on photographers are programmed in November, Paris' photography month; during this year's Cannes Film Festival, Le Cinéma Club hosted two shorts from directors screening in Official Competition (Andrea Arnold & Alain Guiraudie).
